St. Mary’s Church, Killenaule was looking fantastic for the wedding of Suzy and PJ. Suzy is a renowned make up artist, very popular in the wedding business in Tipperary and further afield, but today was her day! The sun shone high in the October sky as she made her way to a packed Killenaule church, and of course PJ and the lads were already there, greeting the guests as they arrived. Suzy looked fabulous in her wedding dress as she was proudly walked up the aisle by her dad. Fr O’Donnell tied the knot for them, and with Hilda McMahon being their photographer for the day we all worked easily together. The Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny was our stop for the evening
Fethard Church was the call last Friday in fantastic sunshine and a great local wedding in Tipperary, Jillian & Laurence got married in this lovely old town. Jillia was just 2 km from Fethard was a nice easy call to her house that morning on my way from Cashel, the house was a great success as there was lots going on to film. Andrew Mc Dermott was on hand as her photographer, we both worked on her sisters wedding 4 years ago so its great to be called back again, we must have done something right last time.
Moving on to Fetahrd to capture Laurence and the lads, meeting people in McCarthy’s pub, just settling the nerves of course 🙂 Laurence is from Cloneen which is not far down the road in the parish of Drangan & Cloneen so a near meet for both familys, Cashel flowers supplied the fabulous flowers on the day and made the church look lovely.
Fr Tom Breen was the man that tied the knot, a lovely guy and did not delay us to long in the warm church.
Andrew their photographer took both family’s to have the family photos done to the rear of the church, in the shade I might add, this is a great way to have this bit of the day over for them as after this they are free to go to the reception.
The new park hotel was our last stop for the evening, and I must say its the best hotel in Kilkenny for a wedding, their attention to detail and personal attention to the couple on the day is second to none.
Last Wednesday evening I got word that I had won the Mrs2Be brides choice awards for wedding Videography in Ireland!
The Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards were launched in 2014. The awards are the first and only Irish wedding industry awards that are based on a detailed review process involving each entrant’s previous customers. Entrants are judged on a range of criteria including professionalism and quality. Entrants are judged primarily via a review system involving previous couples who have recently used their service. These reviews are independently verified and cross-referenced to ensure credibility.
I was nominated last year and was honoured to become a finalist. This year I was nominated by a couple whose wedding I filmed early in 2017 and I progressed once again to the finals, but this time I went all the way and won! It’s a nervous wait to see how things go with the judges and of course how the couples vote. But as I always say, every wedding video I complete is a winner for me – when I get an e-mail, text, Facebook review or a phone call to say how delighted a couple are with their wedding DVD, well I just won all over again!
Wedding videography can be a strange business sometimes, no two couples have the same taste in filming or the music they pick for the final product. Over the years I have seen the way weddings are delivered – these times of course it’s DVD and also flash drives are making their way on stream. But I have always kept up-to-date with all the latest technology, including the new Sony cams, the very best in software, computers, and of course my own creative and unique way of filming weddings all wrapped into a professional, affordable and unobtrusive style. And by the looks of things it’s working both for the couple and for me, so happy days there!
It’s time to get ready for this week’s weddings – some more fantastic couples to meet, new places, new faces, and hopefully more referrals, that’s how my business works best. It also helps that my website is at the top of google for wedding video in Tipperary, along with Kilkenny and Carlow – I love SEO and how Google works behind the scenes, and by the looks of things it has paid off again! Thank you to all my 2107 couples that took the time to vote for us. ~ Joe & Breda

Last week I had the pleasure of filming a lovely fun wedding for a family I know very well, John and Tess Ryan (Bob). Their lovely daughter Aoife married Frank Cussen from Galbally in Oola Church. I called to Aoife’s house to capture the excitement on the morning – the usual stuff, hair, make up, more hair and more make up, and that was only her dad and the the lads! But seriously it was great to film all the fun of the girls getting ready- it’s a lovely start to a wedding DVD. Earlier in the week I had done a little bit of filming with Frank to get his thoughts on his upcoming wedding and on the morning of the wedding Aoife spoke her thoughts on camera and I mixed the two together to make the lovely clip you will see below.
As I mentioned, Oola Church was my next stop. What a huge amount of friends they have, guests from Galbally, Cashel and all over the world turned up! The ceremony was conducted by Fr. Jack O’Neill and when Aoife and Frank were married we moved on to Aoife’s granny’s house, a lovely farm setting with the old milking steps providing a lovely backdrop for the photo session.
Aoife and Frank had thought of every thing, with green wellies for the lads and flowery ones for the girls! Their photographers captured some great photos here and I got some lovely footage.
The Bunratty Castle Hotel was our last stop for the day. Aoife and Frank arrived soon after me – I like to try and get to the reception venue before the bride and groom to film the drinks reception so they can see what was happening elsewhere on their day. The function room in the hotel is splendid and looked fabulous on the day. The wedding cake was fantastic and the speeches were excellent – funny, emotional, and just the right length. One of the highlights of the day for the lads was when both mothers sang “The Voyage” together after the speeches; it sounded fabulous so well done to the mams for that!
Their entertainment for the night was “The Seducers” band and they had the huge crowd rocking the night away.
I’d like to wish Aoife and Frank congratulations on their marriage, and all the best for the years to come.
So if your planing on getting married in, 2017 / 2018/ 2019, give me a call and lets chat about YOUR wedding because I get booked very early!
As a wedding videographer covering all of Munster and further, Kilkenny is one of my most visited areas along with Tipperary. This week, the Kilkenny River Court Hotel was my stop after a lovely church service in Callan for Sarah and John.
The moment I arrived at the kilkenny River Court, I was greeted by James Leonard, General Manager, and Colm Nolan, Deputy Manager. They had a beautiful red carpet out awaiting the bride and groom and were interested in how the day went for the lovely couple, along with wondering the time frame regarding the photographs to gauge the meal time. It’s very important for the hotel and for the guests that dinner is served on time. James and Colm were waiting with champagne and strawberryies on ice to greet the couple. Parking at this great hotel is so easy due to the fact they acquired some land behind the hotel, which is a welcome to all parking.
When the couple arrived atthe hotel after some photographs at Kilkenny Castle, they were greeted and taken inside to a fabulous reception area to relax and enjoy some of the River Court’s tasty before-dinner treats.
The hotel itself is in a spectacular location, with its unique backdrop overlooking Kilkenny Castle on the banks of the River Nore, and is regarded as one of the finest wedding hotels in Ireland. The Kilkenny River Court Hotel is very proud to host exquisite weddings right in the heart of Kilkenny City.
Dinner was called on time and served piping hot in a professional manner. I must say the staff in the River Court are second to none where service and friendliness is concerned. James and Colm were on duty Saturday and made sure I was around for the all important speeches! The turn round for the evening party was very prompt; the couple’s band was set up and ready to party at 9.45, which is fantastic for us poor videographers who have been on our feet all day.
As a videographer I see behind the scenes of a hotel on a wedding day, and I personally would give the River Court Hotel Kilkenny 100%. If you are planning your wedding in the River Court Hotel, why not give me a call and let’s chat about your wedding DVD package and to see some footage I filmed in this great hotel. More reviews next week of Hotels In Kilkenny. Joe ~

With this way of working, no couple will get the run around with different prices. I would never recommend someone I would not use my self.

Wedding videography is a record of your day the way you would like it told, and along with our camera skills and editing this can be achieved. No wedding is the same and any videographer that goes out to do a job should never treat it like “yesterdays wedding” – every couple has different ideas of what they think their wedding video should look and feel like and I love to hear this, because it gives me a clear picture of what they are seeing. When the day arrives I keep this in mind, and work to achieve it.
So Happy New year to you all. and If your planing on ” tieing the knot” or you know someone who is, give me a call I can guarantee you wont be disappoint in price or quality ( photos © wedding video Kilkenny ) and https://pixabay.com
Importance of discussing the Right Wedding Theme for the Right Season with Your Videographer
Not everyone woman aspires to be a June bride. Couples who are tying the knot can find many compelling reasons to plan their weddings for any of the four seasons – spring, summer, fall, or winter. As someone experienced in marriage video editing, you’ve undoubtedly experienced weddings set in a variety of times during the years, and have seen the success (or failure) of different wedding themes as they interact with the challenges of the season the wedding is in.
As a videographer, based in Kilkenny your insights are valuable. Not only in the planning and execution of the marriage videography and editing but in suggesting how your video presentation can complement the entire wedding planning effort. Here are some useful suggestions for how you can discuss with the bride and groom the ways your video presentation can capture the spirit of the season.
A spring wedding is about color and the reawakening of the earth around us from the doldrums of winter. Smart wedding planning for spring will emphasize bright floral colors, with décor and clothing that is light and airy. Outdoor venues are often chosen, either for the ceremony or the reception, or for both.
As a videographer, point out to your clients how you can capture the feel of spring by incorporating B-roll exterior shots of the venue or shooting back story elements that place the bride and her bridesmaids in a natural, colorful setting. Your wedding video editing can shine by incorporating the selective use of soft-focus and a shallow depth of field to complement the light and airy attributes of the décor and clothing.
Summers can be hot, and smart wedding themes and videography will build a theme for the wedding around bold colors, spicy tastes, and a less formal approach. When consulting with your clients, stress how your marriage video editing can be used to capture the excitement of the day.
Editing is the key to capturing the essence of a summer wedding. A fast-paced editing style, with judicious use of jump cuts, will instill more excitement than a more sedate approach utilizing longer shots slower transitions.
Autumn brings to the wedding palette a rich selection of colors and hues, with vibrant earth tones a favorite focal point of the wedding design. Your marriage video editing can take full advantage of a well-considered and planned an autumn wedding, and here are a few suggestions you can make to your clients to capture the essence of the season.
Consider capturing B-roll footage of the bride and groom in casual takes at a colorful fall location. One of my personal favorites is shooting the couple walking along a lake or pond where the fall colors of the trees are reflected. At the wedding location and reception capture, close-up footage of fall touches in the flower arrangements and table decorations to add to the effect.
Winter weddings offer wonderful opportunities for dramatic and compelling videography. Your role as a marriage video editing professional provides an excellent opportunity to communicate with your client on ways to take advantage of the season. Winter weddings are complemented by sharp color distinctions that utilize the grayscale, while splashes of color from flowers, decorations, or even brightly colored canapes add a festive note.
In your marriage video editing role, take advantage of these opportunities to pitch some dramatic ideas to your clients. Utilizing black-and-white effects, with colored highlights that pop from the screen, is an excellent way to create memorable images that will really satisfy your clients. And take advantage of the low winter light and darker interior settings to create dramatic shots within the main narrative or as complementary B-roll footage.
Make Your Wedding Environmentally Friendly
Many people think that planning a green wedding requires a lot more work than a traditional wedding, which is why they cross it off their list almost immediately. However, an eco-friendly wedding can actually save you quite a lot of time and money, and you get to do something awesome for the planet, which is exactly why everyone should consider the idea.
With that in mind, here are some interesting ideas that you can use for your wedding in order to make it environmentally friendly and, at the same time, make it even more beautiful and completely unique.
Email Your Save-the-Date Announcements
More and more couples are choosing to email their save-the-date announcements, so you can follow in their lead, instead of sending paper ones. You can do the same with your wedding invitations and save a lot of money (and trees, of course).
However, if you want to send out traditional save-the-dates and wedding invitations, make sure you use recycled paper to print them out. There are also papers made of linen, cotton, and bamboo, so you can consider those as well.
Choose a Stunning Venue That Doesn’t Need Décor
It goes without saying that wedding decorations can make your reception look wonderful, but you can achieve the same result with no décor at all. It really is possible – all you need to do is pick a venue that will be so beautiful that it doesn’t need any decorations whatsoever. If you can find one, you can be absolutely sure that you and all of your guests will be amazed.
Find a place that has a lot of natural beauty and that screams a unique personality that doesn’t need anything extra in order to be fulfilled. Choose a venue that will show off the beauty of the environment and set the tone that will wow your guests. If you still want to go for minimal decorating, you can use glass containers filled with shells, for instance, and you can even use fruits and vegetables as your wedding centrepieces.
Use Fresh and Home-Grown Flowers
What’s a wedding without flowers, right? However, not all flowers are organic so, in order to avoid leaving a large carbon footprint, you can use fabric or paper flowers, or any other alternative to flowers that can still make a huge difference to your wedding.
However, if you still want to have real flowers on your wedding, find a local organic florist who will make you beautiful arrangements, or you can make your own bouquets from freshly-cut flowers from your local farmers’ market. You can even use home-grown flowers and place potted plants on the tables, as those can truly be lovely decorations.
Go Digital with Photography
Of course, most photographers nowadays use digital cameras, but you need to make sure that the one who will shoot your wedding only shoots in digital format. That way, not only will you save a lot of money, since you will choose which photos you actually want printed, but you will also save a lot on wasted paper, not to mention that you will avoid all the harsh chemicals needed for printing photos.
These tips will certainly give you an idea of how you can make your wedding environmentally friendly, but there are quite a lot more things that you can do in order to go green, so make sure you explore them further. Don’t forget to find a great videographer as well, since you need someone who can capture all the important moments of your wedding day and preserve them forever, so make sure you find someone who will provide you with the best wedding video editing services and who will deliver videos that you and your loved one will cherish for the rest of your life.
Well the Christmas Day celebrations are over and as we wind down and head towards the end of the year we can take a look back at 2016…
One of the highlights of the year for me was winning the Mrs2be Brides’ Choice award for videography. Being shortlisted last year and making it to finalist stage was very exciting but winning the category this year was something special and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank again all the couples who voted for us, and especially Jackie who nominated us. We hope we can continue to provide the same level of customer satisfaction in Tipperary, Kilkenny and further afield in 2017 and beyond!
Of course it’s also a time to look ahead to the future and for newly engaged coupes it’s such an exciting time! This time of year is very popular for engagements and for the first few weeks of January the bookings come in thick and fast! So if you’re planning on getting married on a key date over the next few years such as a bank holiday weekend or around Christmas or the New Year, now’s the time to start making those enquiries! Contact us here at Abbey Video Productions for more information and advice and we’ll be happy to help you.
With the last few weddings of the year coming up for us, at Annacarty in Co. Tipperary and Kilmoganny in Co. Kilkenny, we would like to thank all of our 2016 brides and grooms, along with all of our other customers from shows and individual projects. We look forward to the many weddings we will be recording in 2017 and hope that the New Year brings happiness and health to you all. So if your getting married in 2107 / 2018 / 2019 get in touch and we can work out a package that will suit you.
Lets Get Going, IT’S SHOW-TIME!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And nowhere more so than in the schools and preschools where the children are really getting into the festive mood practicing for their annual Christmas shows. Yes it’s that time of year again when the tinsel and the Christmas jumpers get their annual airing and the excitement is building as festive songs and dance moves are rehearsed for the big show!
We at Abbey Video find ourselves filming many school and preschool shows and events at this time of year, in every corner of Kilkenny and also further afield in counties Limerick and Tipperary. Even though it is a very busy few weeks we keep on top of things and wherever possible we get the finished DVDs back to the pupils before they finish up for their Christmas holidays.
So much work and preparation goes into each show by the pupils and the teachers and helpers, and of course the ever patient parents! So it’s nice to be able to watch it all over again whenever you like when it’s recorded on DVD, and it can provide hours of entertainment all over again to the little stars of the show when Mammy or Daddy are busy with the Christmas preparations! We have been told on more than one occasion that the Christmas Show DVD is a great little babysitter!
A Christmas Show DVD makes a lovely gift for grandparents or aunts and uncles who mightn’t be able to make it to the show. And of course the children themselves will love looking back on it in years to come!
So if you have a little one taking part in a Christmas show this year we hope you enjoy all their hard work and enthusiasm, and we might even see you there!
It’s Show Time
