Light up Letters, the Latest Trend at Weddings

Light up Letters, the Latest Trend at Irish weddings

Light up LettersOver the years of filming wedding videos all over Ireland, trends come and go, from the Chocolate Fountain, the sweet cart and now, Light up Letters these letters can say anything you wish, from welcoming your guests to  your wedding, to the all important word LOVE .For all couples, their wedding day is a unique and memorable occasion. No matter how many weddings they may go to as guests, no day will ever be as amazing as theirs.

However for guests, a lot of weddings that they go to can feel pretty similar and not that unique at all. Now on one hand, this isn’t really an issue for prenuptial couples to worry about as it’s their special day after all, but how can they help to make the day just as memorable for their guests as it is for them? At many Irish weddings these days as I have seen in areas like Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford there is a growing trend of light up letters taking centre stage in the function room. and yes it look great! These dazzling displays are proving to be a wonderful addition to many weddings across Ireland and for videography companies like Wedding Videographers Kilkenny  there are no problems capturing the magnificence of these lights and incorporating them into the wedding videos that I produce for happy couples.

The light up letters come in a range of sizes so for couples who are looking for a discreet display there are small options available which are ideal for the top table at the wedding meal. However for the bride and groom who really want to dazzle their guests, large light up letters which are ideal for placing at the front of the dance floor are being more commonly hired in many parts of Ireland, including Tipperary and Kilkenny.
These larger letters are approximately 5 ft tall so they’re certainly big enough to be easily seen but not so large that they become obtrusive.
For many brides and grooms it is understandable that they will want their wedding venue to be set up in advance without the need to make alterations during the day. However should they wish to then it’s not a big job as the light up letters are easily mobile due to their surprisingly light weight. They are also versatile and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use so they can be appreciated whatever the weather. If the bride and groom are looking for outdoor photographs at night with a stunning backdrop then these lights are ideal. Equally, if they want them moved from the edge of the dance floor during the evening to make more space then this is also easily done due to their lightweight construction.

The light up letters provide a stunning background scenery which guests will be queuing up to take photographs of and will remember long after the big day.Experienced videography professionals such as Wedding Videographers Kilkenny  can seamlessly highlight the light up letters in their footage so that the bride and groom will have a permanent reminder of their special day that they can hold on to forever. So if you are planing your special day give me a call or drop me an e-mail and we can discuss your wedding video let tit be in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford Carlow or indeed any  county in Ireland.

Hope my blog was someway helpful to you in your planing for that special day ~ Joe

Wedding Favour ideas 2016

Churches in Kilkeny wedding video kilkenny

Whether it be a Tipperary wedding, a Kilkenny wedding, or where ever you’re getting married, it goes without saying that your wedding day is an extremely special occasion and one of the biggest days of your life. Of course, for all brides and grooms, the actual wedding ceremony is the most important part, but sharing your special day with your closest friends and family is also a vital element for a lot of people. It is becoming commonplace for many brides and grooms to recognise the love and friendship of their guests with a small token of their appreciation.
There are literally hundreds of different ideas for wedding favours that you can use, and below is just a small selection. All of these are becoming more frequent at Irish weddings in places such as Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford. You don’t have to break the bank.
Weddings can be very expensive occasions, and some things such as videography are best handled by a professional such as Abbey Video Productions, due to my extensive experience and knowledge of all the local and distant hotels and my years of wedding videography.

However, when it comes to things such as invitations and wedding favours, there’s no need to hire an expensive wedding planner as it really is the thought that counts. A sweet idea, one of the most popular wedding favours that won’t decimate your wedding budget is sweets and in particular, Love Hearts. They have obvious connotations with love and togetherness and you can customise the wrappers to include your own personal message. Other sweet companies also offer a similar service and, although Love Hearts are arguably the most appropriate, it really is up to the bride and groom to choose which sweets to have – possibly their own favourites.

Favour envelopes are another increasingly popular idea, and anything can be placed in them and left as a surprise for your guests

A photograph or a note of thanks can be especially heartfelt for guests, many of whom may have travelled a long way to be present.
Scented candles are also growing in popularity as a wedding favour and are often found at Irish weddings in Tipperary and Kilkenny in particular. The candles can be personalised with your own unique message or you can buy them ‘off the shelf’, but either way they will create a wonderful aroma in the room and give your guests a lasting memory of the day that they can take home and keep.Of course you can break the bank if you choose to.
While most brides and grooms have a limited budget which they’ll try to stick rigidly to, some couples will be able to lavish expensive wedding favours on their guests. If you can afford to, then why not? Sweets are one thing, but a handmade cake with a personalised message will really impress your guests and they’ll certainly remember the wedding for a long time to come.
Any form of personalised gift will be sure to leave a lasting impression on your guests, and items such as hip flasks, passport holders and wallets can all be customised with a unique message for a real personal touch.

Whichever wedding favours you decide to go with, they can be incorporated into the videography of your wedding by Abbey Video Productions, so that you have a permanent reminder of the tokens of gratitude you had on your special day. So, I hope my post has been of some use to you, and I have a great one for next week! Joe

My idea of creating a website  just for wedding videography services  in Kilkenny  following feed back for brides and grooms around Kilkenny & Carlow areas has been a huge success for me. Now talking about Kilkenny, I filmed a lovely wedding there 2 weeks ago for Kelly O Shea & Brandon Walsh, both Kilkenny people, Kelly admitted  she priced and looked at samples of other “video” guys but she loved the way my footage flowed  and of course my prices, which was very important  to her and everyone these days along with my invisible way of filming their wedding day.

A quick call to Kelly’s home the morning of the wedding which is just across the street from  St. Mary’s Cathedral in Kilkenny city was a must, its where the fun begins for me  on a wedding day, as everyone is so excited with the make-up people there , the friends and family calling its a real buzz, Kelly kept no one waiting and the day ran like clock work. John Delaney their photographer was all ready there when i arrived, John is a fantastic photographer and also owns  Johns photo boot  we meet  quite a lot at weddings in and around Kilkenny, and of course we both recommend each other to couples which is a great way to network. Brides in Munster, Tipperary and Kilkenny’s  wedding supplier  website was also a part

After the lovely ceremony by Fr Willie Purcell    who is great fun and makes every couple relaxed with his approach, o yes and he also commented on how unobtrusive  I was …. just thought I get that little bit in  there 🙂  we went to Kilkenny castle for the photo shoot and what a day for the Castle grounds , which is rare these days with our Irish weather, we got some lovely walking shots of Kelly and Brandon and where would you be without the famous  water feature  in the grounds of the castle, As John was taking the last few photographs I made my way to no other than Langtons  house hotel in the center of Kilkenny city, where my good friend Sean was on hand with the champagne, Sean is a great guy makes sure all is going smoothly on the day, myself and Sean go back a long way and he always recommends me to couples who is booking their wedding at Langtons if you look at their wedding sheets Wedding video Kilkenny is number one on it for wedding video.

Wedding Video Bookings for 2016 and 2017  are pouring in the last few days. Even January this year  was as busy as last July and that’s booked out fully again this year!  It’s something I have never encountered before but is great to see. Even  2017  is well booked. Throughout the year, I have had to recommend some well heeled colleagues of mine to brides for whom I was booked for their date. If I am booked, I don’t just send them a name of the first  videographer that springs to mind. I have a few professional guys that I hold in the highest regard and we always recommend each other, should one of us be booked. With this way of working, no couple will get the run around with different prices. I would never recommend someone I would not use my self.

The last few weeks has been hectic  filming weddings and school shows in and around Tipperary along with Kilkenny and Carlow,  This is why I had to defer a brand new editing software until next month which is the most professional in Europe. I have made the big decision to change over to a top of the range  MAC. After a lot of research, I have  learned that, together, MAC and the new editing software will both provide even more fantastic results to my editing work. It will also make my turn around time even better. Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 software is the best video editing software available my two new top of the range Sony cameras are well in training by now after the few months of hard work  and works nearly by themselves

So, with a fantastic looking year ahead and with 80% of my work in and around Tipperary and Kilkenny, I guess I can’t complain. However, with every wedding that I film I try and create a new and unique way of crafting wedding videos and editing. Anyone  can give you a wedding video, but I try and make it that bit special. It’s this that has kept me ahead of other other “video guys “, while still offering a Professional Affordable and Unobtrusive service.   So, if you are planning your wedding for  this year, you’d better be quick and contact me now, or even for 2016/ 2017 as I am  being booked very fast. To see my new and unique way of how your wedding video could look, give me a call. I will try to match your service area, along with the hotel  that you might be using, with a full wedding DVD to view at home. This way, you get a feel of my true work

If you’ve been following my blog weddings in Kilkenny for a while now, you’ll know I love to help inspire young couples to get creative with their wedding videos. Top 5 Wedding Video Ideas First visit?

Hello! I’m Joe, a wedding videographer covering  Tipperary & Kilkenny  and further afield.  In this blog post I’ll be sharing some great ideas I’ve had for wedding videos, but maybe you’d like to find out more about me, read testimonials, or information on prices and packages first? I’ll wait for you…

I am full of ideas for wedding videos and will share a few of them here with you. Many of them naturally deal with the wedding ceremony itself, but there is an endless variety of creative and original ways of filming your wedding such as Rock the Frock. This time however, I’ve taken things one step further…

  1. Wedding invitations!

Let’s think outside the box, and think about wedding invitations. No, not your regular paper invitation that fits neatly into an envelope. I’m thinking of a real, live, walking and talking invitation. Have you ever thought of being filmed as you personally invite your guests to your wedding? Just imagine, we could film you in your living room or during a candle-lit dinner, you then turn to the camera and announce the date. Perhaps you won’t be able to contain your giggles, but that’s all part of the fun. I think your friends will be enthralled with this fun invitation and eagerly anticipate your wedding day i have put together a wedding supplies website dedicated to your wedding day.

  1. Save the date

Recently I filmed a couple as they announced their engagement and then I made copies for their close friends and relatives which they then posted. Of course they had to keep their engagement top secret or else the news would spread like wildfire and ruin the surprise. The young bride told me about the look of surprise on her aunt’s face as she watched the DVD and realised that is was a wedding invitation & idea’s munster. She was overjoyed and now they are all very excited about the wedding.

  1. A DVD as wedding favour

This provides another opportunity where you can become as creative as you like. We could make what appears to be a music video of the two of you walking along a beach with your favourite song playing in the background. Or if you are not comfortable talking to the camera, we could do a black and white movie (think of a Charlie Chaplin movie) with subtitles to thank everyone and at the end the groom steals a cheeky kiss!

  1. Wedding Video Kilkenny
    Wedding Video Kilkenny

    Thank you video.

This is another very personal and thoughtful way of using video, where you can personally thank your guests for attending your wedding in Tipperary, and to thank friends and family for all their support and help during the preparations. I filmed a hilarious video recently, where the lively couple did a rap, at times it was hard to keep the camera still, but I managed as I am professional after all. All the relatives were highly amused as they watched this together. This particular video was filmed in advance and then shown to guests towards the end of the evening of the actual wedding day. The ingratiated couple enjoyed a huge round of applause from their wedding guests and a few staff.

  1. Game show.

This idea is perhaps not for the faint of heart, and may not appeal to the more demure bride, but would be fantastic if you’re out to have as much fun as possible on your wedding day and want to entertain your guests. A pre-filmed game show where the bride and groom compete is guaranteed to get the maximum amount of laughs from your guests. Perhaps you’ve seen the Abbey Video on Facebook of the young couple who mimic Ant n’ Dec? This crazy couple have inspired many wedding videos along a similar theme and recently I’ve had a few enquiries about filming videos along a similar theme idea’s.

My calendar has nearly reached full capacity, however I still have a couple of slots available in November, and a handful in mid-week. We can’t believe how we’ve already received so many bookings to film weddings & family events for spring and summer 2015 / 16. Young couples are becoming increasingly more organised and planning every aspect of their wedding further in advance in order to secure the best services and manage costs. I think this is very sensible as I do get booked up early. I hate to disappoint, especially when a couple have received a great recommendation and their hearts are set on using Abbey Video Productions   numerous Packages available.

So if you like what you see, please get in contact soon! We can meet for a casual chat over coffee, where of course you will not feel obligated or pressured into choosing Abbey Video to film your wedding day. If you have any questions at all, drop me a line or email and we can talk about bringing your ideas to life.

That’s about all for now, but I’ll be back soon with more ideas and thoughts from the world of wedding videography.

Why you need a Videographer

Wedding-video-Tipperary-300x169
Wedding video Kilkenny

What is the most common thing you hear people say at the end of their wedding day? I can remember saying it at the end of my own wedding day.

‘I can’t believe it’s all over’.

At almost every wedding I have filmed within Tipperary and Kilkenny , towards the end of the day, I have overheard the bride or groom mutter something along the lines of ‘I can’t believe the day has gone by so fast’. I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. On your wedding day you will be so busy having fun and mingling with your friends and guests whom you haven’t seen for a long time, that the day will absolutely fly. You will be in high demand and everyone will want to speak with you and wish you well. Of course, you will not need to worry about me, I will quietly go about my business while you enjoy a great day.

Now, I want you to think of the months and months of careful planning and effort that go into planning your wedding day. Think of how long it is taking to plan your guest list, how long it takes to choose your wedding dress. What type of flowers are you having in the church? Are you having wedding favours or donating to charity? Are the flower girls having fresh flowers in their hair? Think about the huge amount of time and effort you are putting into the preparations and the finer details.

If you really want to cherish and relive all of these memories as vividly as possible, the best way to do so is by having a videographer present on the day. It is a shame to risk forgetting all the finer details, a reflection of your joint efforts, passion and creativity.

Having a videographer at your wedding will also give you an opportunity to witness moments when you were not present and can answer questions about how others were feeling that day.Such as ‘How was the groom before I arrived at the church? Was he as nervous as me?’

What was the atmosphere like at the church before I arrived?’How was the father of the bride on the morning of the wedding?’Brides In Munster, Latest Wedding News Tipperary, Videographers Tipperary, Wedding DVD Cashel, Civil marriage ceremonies , Wedding Video Ballykisteen Hotel, Wedding Videographer Tipperary Wedding Videographer Tipperary – WaterfordThe atmosphere in the bride’s home, the morning of the wedding can be incredibly exciting and can only be captured by a videographer. I’m sure you’ll agree if you have experienced it before. I feel humbled to be able to share and recreate the mood of that morning – sheer excitement and nerves before the big event.

Wedding-Video-Tipperary-Group-Photo-300x168

Another favourite moment I will never tire of filming, is the expression on the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time as she enters the church. Equally brilliant is the moment when the bride and groom walk down the aisle hand in hand, with a look of pure exhilaration and relief that the difficult part is over and now they can relax a little and enjoy the rest of the day. There are so many wonderful moments worth catching to be seen again and again.

As you may well know, I have been dedicated to this industry for some time, (for twenty years in fact!) I have filmed weddings in Tipperary Kilkenny Carlow, Cork, Waterford and beyond, and in those years I have developed a keen sense of what is important. I appreciate which crucial moments from the ceremony really need to be filmed, I know how to best record the finer details. I know when a big, fat close up is needed and when to hang back to observe the crowd; and most importantly of all, because of my years in training, I can put all of this into practice to create an artistic and beautifully flowing wedding DVD.

It’s great  to have a wedding video on a Thursday in March, and a local one at that!  Kilcommon Churchwas my booking, and what a cold place it was. But for Mari & Raymond it was a perfect day … it was their wedding day.  A quick call to Mari’s house on the way to the Church was my first stop.  The girls were rushing around with make up, hair dryers, the works! I knew this was going to be a fun filled wedding day right away, and it was! I left Mari’s house to head to the church to capture the guys at the church but found them at a different type of establishment, with Guinness written over the door!  Having filmed all the little details that Mari & Raymond had organised for the inside of the Church I went on to film the large number of family and friends arriving.

Mari arrived on time along with her bridesmaids in a party bus, which was a great surprise for all. Raymond and the lads were already in their places at the top of the Church getting some good advice from Fr Dan Woods! Mari and her dad made their way up the aisle to a wonderful greeting from Raymond, and Fr Dan gave a lovely meaningful  service as usual, quick to the the point.

The wonderful Abbey Court Hotel was our stop for the evening, and who better than Ray to make everyone so welcome. I find Ray Lynch, the Wedding Co-ordinator, so helpful on the day of a wedding not only to the guests, but also to all the wedding suppliers. Ray has always been great to me recommending my video services to brides and grooms for quite a few years.  The Abbey Court Hotel is also listed on my sister site BRIDES IN MUNSTER along with a short video showcasing the hotel.

abbey_court_hotel-300x195Their band for the evening was “Atomik Chicken” and from the first dance they had the floor full all night. Best wishes to Mari & Raymond, as i said it was a fun-filled wedding enjoyed by all including myself  :)  A  big thank you for having Abbey Video Productions capture your special day. After some  video footageof the guests mingling and the photo shoot, it was time to film this wonderful hotel’s function room. I love to film the little details on the tables and any other personal and guest orientated details. The speeches were carried out before the meal which i think is a fantastic idea, as it allows the speakers to enjoy their meal knowing that the speeches are over and done with.

A little about the  Abbey Court Nenagh
