I’ve been nominated for a Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Award 2019!

As a wedding videographer based in Tipperary and Kilkenny covering all Ireland it’s fantastic to have been nominated yet again for the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards 2019. I won it in 2016 and again in 2018. Entrants are judged on a range of criteria including professionalism and quality.there is lots of other awards out there but the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards are Recognising the best of the Irish wedding industry.Over the years I have worked hard to understand the needs of couples who choose me as their wedding videographer for their special day, every couple has different ideas for their wedding video production and I encourage each bride and groom to give me their ideas and what they might like in the final production … after all it’s their day.

Down through the years I have invested both time and money to keep up with the latest cameras, editing software and all the bells and whistles that go along with the job as i feel only the best is good enough for your wedding day

I don’t use wedding fairs, I have  attended 2 in all my time as a wedding videographer, as i feel a lot of the couples that come along on the day often have their wedding suppliers booked before hand, and that can include me! So I  work on the “word of mouth” system and it really does work.  As you are reading my blog you will see I also depend on my website like any other business, and of course a quick google and you should normally find me at the top of your search  both in Tipperary & Kilkenny – I’m working on the other counties  as we speak.

Getting back to the  Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Award 2019, every wedding I cover and produce  both locally and everywhere else is an Award for me as the feed back I get is truly out of this world and 100% recommendation from Brides & Grooms.  So I get Awards every year in my own way when couples  contact me after they have viewed their wedding dvd and  tell me that not only did they like their dvd but loved it and are so glad to have got a wedding video.  So a happy customer is happy days! But of course in saying that  the Award would be nice to receive, but we will let the powers that be make that choice, there are a lot of other fantastic videographers around the country and I wish them all the best.

The wedding industry is booming at the moment and next year looks like a bumper year as well.  The budgets are still in place of course and rightly so, but I have often said  you get what you pay for.  Of course you can get your wedding video for 300 euro for the full day but is that all your memories are worth? The average price for the day can be 800+ and I think that’s fair – it often can be an 11 hr day and that’s only the wedding day, editing has to come into play after that.  So I would say if your are planning on getting married and having a wedding DVD  give time choosing your videographer. You don’t need to pay 900+ unless it’s a 2 man crew with 2  manned cameras, if that is what you need go for it, but I like to film with the “fly on the wall” approach.  This way both you and your guests are often unaware of cameras there at all, but of course all the little details get covered, with your guests enjoying themselves and your full day captured in detail.

So I would like to thank you all  for the nominations and I will keep you posted on the outcome

Kilkenny Hotels ( Kilkenny River Court Hotel )

Kilkenny River Court Hotel- Abbey Video As a wedding videographer covering all of Munster and further, Kilkenny is one of my most visited areas along with Tipperary. This week, the Kilkenny River Court Hotel was my stop after a lovely church service in Callan for Sarah and John.

Kilkenny River Court Hotel- Abbey Video The moment I arrived at the kilkenny River Court, I was greeted by James Leonard, General Manager, and Colm Nolan, Deputy Manager. They had a beautiful red carpet out awaiting the bride and groom and were interested in how the day went for the lovely couple, along with wondering the time frame regarding the photographs to gauge the meal time. It’s very important for the hotel and for the guests that dinner is served on time. James and Colm were waiting  with champagne and strawberryies on ice to greet the couple. Parking at this great hotel is so easy due to the fact they acquired some land behind the hotel, which is a welcome to all parking.

Kilkenny River Court Hotel- Abbey Video When the couple arrived atthe hotel after some photographs at Kilkenny Castle, they were greeted and taken inside  to a fabulous reception area to relax and enjoy some of the River Court’s tasty before-dinner treats.

Kilkenny River Court Hotel- Abbey Video The hotel itself is in a spectacular location, with its unique backdrop overlooking Kilkenny Castle on the banks of the River Nore, and is regarded as one of the finest wedding hotels in Ireland. The Kilkenny River Court Hotel is very proud to host exquisite weddings right in the heart of Kilkenny City.

DSC08798Dinner was called on time and served piping hot in a professional manner. I must say the staff in the River Court are second to none where service and friendliness is concerned. James and Colm were on duty Saturday and made sure I was  around for the all important speeches! The turn round for the  evening party was very prompt; the couple’s band was set up and ready to party at 9.45, which is fantastic for us poor videographers who have been on our feet all day.

brides_choice_awards_nominated_badge_200x151As a videographer I see behind the scenes of a hotel on a wedding day, and I personally would give the River Court Hotel Kilkenny 100%. If you are planning your wedding in the River Court Hotel, why  not give me a call and let’s chat about your wedding DVD package and to see some footage I filmed in this great hotel.  More reviews next week of Hotels In Kilkenny.  Joe ~

Well, after a hat trick of a weekend – that’s 3 weddings back to back! – its nice to relax on a Sunday evening and do a little blogging. Thursday’s wedding video in Kilkenny was a fantastic day, I would think its 50/ 50 with wedding videos in Kilkenny and in my own county of Tipperary,  I have always been lucky enough to be filming a large amount of weddings in both county’s but of late Kilkenny is very popular with a large number of couples booked in for  2015 and  2016  so happy days!    OK, I know I crossed over the border into county Kilkenny for the wedding of  Allison & Brian, but it was worth it. I started filming at Allison’s home that morning, just off the Kilkenny-Mullinahone road, to  capture the girls getting ready for the big day. It’s a great way to start a wedding video as its shows where it all begins. The girls were well on the way to looking great when I arrived and, with Allison getting her dress on, I left for the church to find the lads. The day was lovely with blue skies and everyone was in fantastic form and looking forward to the wedding. Brian arrived with the lads close by.  I had a bit of banter about Tipperary and Kilkenny with the famous hurler and his groomsman, Tommy Walsh. But, as I was in their turf, I left it well enough alone 🙂  St. John’s Church was the venue with Fr Sean O Connor who I meet  quite a lot  while  filming wedding videos in Kilkenny. He is very nice, easy to work with and great fun as well.

Their photographer for the day was the famous  John McIlwaine I have worked with John on many famous weddings in and around Kilkenny. John is a fantastic and famous sports photographer all over Ireland and Allison & Brian wanted no one else to capture their day. John is so easy to work with and is like lightning to capture those all important shots of the day. As Brian and the  lads were being lined  up for their photographs, I was capturing their guests arriving. I have seen quite a lot of large weddings in my time, but this one was the biggest I have seen so far. The guests were from all over the globe; of course, Kilkenny – Tipperary, I’m not so sure – but USA, Australia and lots more far off places. The couple asked to stream live over the net so that some of their friends abroad could see, so Fr. Sean got  the guests to turn around and wave at the camera that was placed at the back of the church. This went down very well.

Kilkenny wedding videoThe couple chose Langton’s hotel in the heart of  Kilkenny city to have their reception. Again, I have never seen this hotel looking so well and so packed. Even the outer area of the hotel function room had places set for guests to sit at. I like to be at the hotel before the couple arrive. This way, I get to film the guests enjoying the food and drink the bride and groom have put on for their  guests. As it was a lovely day, all of the guests were outside enjoying themselves with a musician entertaining them while they awaited the couple’s arrival. This is just part of the “set” as its called in Langton’s hotel. It’s a magnificent set up and well worth a visit as there are lots of popular shows on around this time of year. Bridie’s Bar is always a big hit with weddings in Kilkenny to have a photograph taken outside with the old bicycle. Sean was on hand to look after the bride and groom for the evening and he is always so helpful on the day.

A short time later, the bell rang for the guests to enter the dining room. What a fabulous job the staff made of the function room. Allison chose to carry out the speeches before the meal. This has become very popular with weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Carlow. It’s a great way because the lads can enjoy their meal knowing the speeches are over and they can relax. I also find its handy for us video guys as well. Also, the guests are awaiting their dinner and are a lot more alert to the speeches. It’s well worth a thought for you brides and grooms to have the speeches before the meal.

Another great idea the couple had was the famous singing chef, whom I have often filmed before. He really entertains the guests with his singing and music. Again, well worth that little bit extra to hire him. You can find all of these Tipperary and Munster wedding suppliers on our sister website, Brides in Munster. Uptown Band was on hand to rock the night away as soon as the floor was clear. Such a professional band, they were set up and ready with the first dance at 9:30, which all weddings should be. As I have often said, bands can be expensive, so let’s get the money’s worth. I have often seen bands take 2 hours to set up and, again, often the first dance starts at 11p.m, which is way too late. People get tired of waiting  around especially after a heavy meal. The dancing is a way to work it off! So thanks again to Allison & Brian for choosing  Abbey Video Productions to capture their special day as we like to say Tipperary’s and of course Kilkenny’s  most  Professional Affordable Unobtrusive  wedding videographer   ~  Joe
