Make Your Wedding Environmentally Friendly

Make Your Wedding Environmentally Friendly

Many people think that planning a green wedding requires a lot more work than a traditional wedding, which is why they cross it off their list almost immediately. However, an eco-friendly wedding can actually save you quite a lot of time and money, and you get to do something awesome for the planet, which is exactly why everyone should consider the idea.
With that in mind, here are some interesting ideas that you can use for your wedding in order to make it environmentally friendly and, at the same time, make it even more beautiful and completely unique.
Email Your Save-the-Date Announcements

Make Your Wedding Environmentally Friendly wedding video Kilkenny More and more couples are choosing to email their save-the-date announcements, so you can follow in their lead, instead of sending paper ones. You can do the same with your wedding invitations and save a lot of money (and trees, of course).
However, if you want to send out traditional save-the-dates and wedding invitations, make sure you use recycled paper to print them out. There are also papers made of linen, cotton, and bamboo, so you can consider those as well.
Choose a Stunning Venue That Doesn’t Need Décor
Wedding video KIlkenny - Abbey videoIt goes without saying that wedding decorations can make your reception look wonderful, but you can achieve the same result with no décor at all. It really is possible – all you need to do is pick a venue that will be so beautiful that it doesn’t need any decorations whatsoever. If you can find one, you can be absolutely sure that you and all of your guests will be amazed.
Find a place that has a lot of natural beauty and that screams a unique personality that doesn’t need anything extra in order to be fulfilled. Choose a venue that will show off the beauty of the environment and set the tone that will wow your guests. If you still want to go for minimal decorating, you can use glass containers filled with shells, for instance, and you can even use fruits and vegetables as your wedding centrepieces.
Use Fresh and Home-Grown Flowers

Make Your Wedding Environmentally Friendly wedding video Kilkenny What’s a wedding without flowers, right? However, not all flowers are organic so, in order to avoid leaving a large carbon footprint, you can use fabric or paper flowers, or any other alternative to flowers that can still make a huge difference to your wedding.
However, if you still want to have real flowers on your wedding, find a local organic florist who will make you beautiful arrangements, or you can make your own bouquets from freshly-cut flowers from your local farmers’ market. You can even use home-grown flowers and place potted plants on the tables, as those can truly be lovely decorations.
Go Digital with Photography

That way, not only will you save a lot of money, since you will choose which photos you actually want printed, but you will also save a lot on wasted paper, not to mention that you will avoid all the harsh chemicals needed for printing photos.
These tips will certainly give you an idea of how you can make your wedding environmentally friendly, but there are quite a lot more things that you can do in order to go green, so make sure you explore them further. Don’t forget to find a great videographer as well, since you need someone who can capture all the important moments of your wedding day and preserve them forever, so make sure you find someone who will provide you with the best wedding video editing services and who will deliver videos that you and your loved one will cherish for the rest of your life.

“Typical Irish Weather” How to Deal with Rain on your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is without doubt one of the biggest days of your life, if not the biggest. However, there’s one thing which can spoil it and that’s the unpredictable Irish weather, particularly in areas such as Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford.

Whatever you do, don’t let a rainy day put a dampener on your start to married life. For all you blushing brides and dashing grooms out there, here are just a few tips to stop the typical Irish weather from spoiling your big day.

Preparation is key

Of course there is nothing you can do to prevent the rain but there are a few steps you can take to prepare for it. Unfortunately everywhere in Ireland is susceptible to high rainfall, even beautiful wedding location such as Tipperary and Kilkenny. As a famous Cork man once said, “ fail to prepare, prepare to fail”, never is this more true than on your wedding day.
Here are a few steps you can take to prepare properly for the day you tie the knot.

Check the weather forecast well in advance and advise your guests

It’s your special day so people won’t mind a bit of rain but do give them some warning if possible. If there’s a high chance of it bucketing down, let your guest know so they can dress accordingly. The last thing you want is all your friends and family drowned to the bone with no umbrellas or jackets to be seen.

Relax and embrace it

Try to relax and not get worked up. This may not sound like great advice but a wedding day is stressful enough without having the added worry of the weather to think about. Just take a few deep breaths, remind yourself that there was always a possibility of rain and embrace it. Try to imagine the raindrops being the perfect backdrop to your special day rather than something that spoils it. It wouldn’t be Ireland without a bit of rain, right?

Trust the experts

Videography professionals such as Abbey Video Productions are used to working in all weather conditions in locations like Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford. They will be well prepared and able to confidently handle any challenges that the weather may present.

Have a Plan B

If your guests are getting soaked and you can’t stand another second of having an umbrella hovering over your head for the entire day then perhaps it is time to head inside. Try to ensure that your venue has an indoor area that you would be happy to use as the backdrop for your photographs and videography. After all, it is one thing to embrace the rain, but it’s another thing entirely to be getting soaked to the skin and rained on for the entirety of your big day. If there is an indoor alternative at the venue then do ensure it is ready for use if necessary.

It’s all about the bride and groom

Well, after a hat trick of a weekend – that’s 3 weddings back to back! – its nice to relax on a Sunday evening and do a little blogging. Thursday’s wedding video in Kilkenny was a fantastic day, I would think its 50/ 50 with wedding videos in Kilkenny and in my own county of Tipperary,  I have always been lucky enough to be filming a large amount of weddings in both county’s but of late Kilkenny is very popular with a large number of couples booked in for  2015 and  2016  so happy days!    OK, I know I crossed over the border into county Kilkenny for the wedding of  Allison & Brian, but it was worth it. I started filming at Allison’s home that morning, just off the Kilkenny-Mullinahone road, to  capture the girls getting ready for the big day. It’s a great way to start a wedding video as its shows where it all begins. The girls were well on the way to looking great when I arrived and, with Allison getting her dress on, I left for the church to find the lads. The day was lovely with blue skies and everyone was in fantastic form and looking forward to the wedding. Brian arrived with the lads close by.  I had a bit of banter about Tipperary and Kilkenny with the famous hurler and his groomsman, Tommy Walsh. But, as I was in their turf, I left it well enough alone 🙂  St. John’s Church was the venue with Fr Sean O Connor who I meet  quite a lot  while  filming wedding videos in Kilkenny. He is very nice, easy to work with and great fun as well.

Their photographer for the day was the famous  John McIlwaine I have worked with John on many famous weddings in and around Kilkenny. John is a fantastic and famous sports photographer all over Ireland and Allison & Brian wanted no one else to capture their day. John is so easy to work with and is like lightning to capture those all important shots of the day. As Brian and the  lads were being lined  up for their photographs, I was capturing their guests arriving. I have seen quite a lot of large weddings in my time, but this one was the biggest I have seen so far. The guests were from all over the globe; of course, Kilkenny – Tipperary, I’m not so sure – but USA, Australia and lots more far off places. The couple asked to stream live over the net so that some of their friends abroad could see, so Fr. Sean got  the guests to turn around and wave at the camera that was placed at the back of the church. This went down very well.

Kilkenny wedding videoThe couple chose Langton’s hotel in the heart of  Kilkenny city to have their reception. Again, I have never seen this hotel looking so well and so packed. Even the outer area of the hotel function room had places set for guests to sit at. I like to be at the hotel before the couple arrive. This way, I get to film the guests enjoying the food and drink the bride and groom have put on for their  guests. As it was a lovely day, all of the guests were outside enjoying themselves with a musician entertaining them while they awaited the couple’s arrival. This is just part of the “set” as its called in Langton’s hotel. It’s a magnificent set up and well worth a visit as there are lots of popular shows on around this time of year. Bridie’s Bar is always a big hit with weddings in Kilkenny to have a photograph taken outside with the old bicycle. Sean was on hand to look after the bride and groom for the evening and he is always so helpful on the day.

A short time later, the bell rang for the guests to enter the dining room. What a fabulous job the staff made of the function room. Allison chose to carry out the speeches before the meal. This has become very popular with weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Carlow. It’s a great way because the lads can enjoy their meal knowing the speeches are over and they can relax. I also find its handy for us video guys as well. Also, the guests are awaiting their dinner and are a lot more alert to the speeches. It’s well worth a thought for you brides and grooms to have the speeches before the meal.

Another great idea the couple had was the famous singing chef, whom I have often filmed before. He really entertains the guests with his singing and music. Again, well worth that little bit extra to hire him. You can find all of these Tipperary and Munster wedding suppliers on our sister website, Brides in Munster. Uptown Band was on hand to rock the night away as soon as the floor was clear. Such a professional band, they were set up and ready with the first dance at 9:30, which all weddings should be. As I have often said, bands can be expensive, so let’s get the money’s worth. I have often seen bands take 2 hours to set up and, again, often the first dance starts at 11p.m, which is way too late. People get tired of waiting  around especially after a heavy meal. The dancing is a way to work it off! So thanks again to Allison & Brian for choosing  Abbey Video Productions to capture their special day as we like to say Tipperary’s and of course Kilkenny’s  most  Professional Affordable Unobtrusive  wedding videographer   ~  Joe
